MONTRÉAL, June 12, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Summer is shaping up to be sun-filled and highly entertaining for visitors to Parc Jean-Drapeau, as the Parc, in the presence of many of its partners, launched the 2015 season by unveiling a diverse and extensive program of activities. An invitation was also extended to the entire population to attend Discovery Day on June 20, when several discounts will be offered on many of the activities.
"I'm really excited about inviting Montrealers and the general public to come, discover and enjoy the Parc Jean-Drapeau," said Danièle Henkel, the Chair of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau board of directors. "Whether you are with your family or friends, you're sure to find activities and events that appeal to everyone. Recently, the Grand Prix du Canada and the Piknic Électronik events set the tone for a top-notch program of events that will continue all summer long."
Some of the notable events featured at the Parc in the summer of 2015 include the fireworks competition l'International des Feux Loto-Québec, the Fullflex Express Tour, the Osheaga Festival, Heavy Montréal, ÎleSoniq, The Color Run, Open House on Québec Farms, the Montréal dragon boat challenge, the UG CrossFit Series, Montréal Marathon, and Week-ends du monde presented by Loto-Québec, a Société du parc Jean-Drapeau produced event, a preview of which was unveiled today.
Jean-Doré Beach turns 25
Newly renamed in honour of former Montréal mayor Jean Doré, the île Notre-Dame Beach is marking its 25th anniversary this year. A veritable oasis situated close to downtown, the magnificent beach boasts a new feature this year, Aquazilla, a 30-by-35 metre floating inflatable structure composed of obstacles, slides and platforms. This activity complements such existing ones as teletraction wakeboarding, boating, stand-up paddleboard and beach volleyball. Meanwhile, a wide range of promotional activities will be organized on the site throughout the summer.
Discovery Day on Saturday, June 20
Parc Jean-Drapeau and its partners cordially invite everyone to come over for Discovery Day on Saturday, June 20. There is certainly no shortage of things to do: boating activities at the Jean-Doré Beach, cycling and in-line skating on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, cultural tours of the Stewart Museum and the Biosphère, Environment Museum, swimming at the Aquatic Complex, discovering public art works, the self-guided tour of Expo 67, Flyboarding, a new extreme sport in which a water-jet allows you to fly above the water; and there are kilometres of trails for people who just want to take a leisurely walk. Most of the Discovery Day activities that require a fee will be offered at a discount, and there will be entertainment and contests at the Beach.
Parc Jean-Drapeau is proud to be able to team up with many partners, all summer long: Coca-Cola, Molson, Breyers, Lafleur, and our media partners.
