Diversification of the housing supply for the citizens of Griffintown - Devimco Immobilier announces one of the most important rental housing developments in Montreal in ten years Français
MONTREAL, May 29, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Devimco Immobilier announces a $60M investment for the construction start of one of the past decade's largest rental housing developments on the island of Montreal.
In building the first tower of 257 apartments, the new company headed by Mr. Serge Goulet is joining forces with the Cogir Group: a leader in the real estate industry and independent management companies in Canada, and in number of square feet under management in all asset classes.
Integrated to the District Griffin project, this tower of rental housing marries the vision of the new Special Planning Program (SPP) - Griffintown sector and the recommendations of the Montreal Office of public consultation concerning the diversification of housing supply in the Griffintown area.
"We want to contribute to more accessible housing and attract new families to Montreal," said Mr. Goulet, who is considering other similar projects.
Located just west of the Alt Hotel in construction, on the southwest corner of Peel and Wellington, the project will include 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments and penthouses. The units should be occupied by the end of 2014 or in early 2015.
Amenities include concierge service, parking spaces, a car-sharing service, as well as a rooftop terrace with a semi-Olympic sized swimming pool. Also, the units will have large storage spaces, and all appliances will be provided.
Approved by the Urban Planning advisory committee of the southwest borough, this new District Griffin tower will follow the committee's recommendations by setting up a communication component with the tenants in order to inform them of the project's sustainable development initiatives. Devimco Immobilier encourages its residents to act as environmentally responsible citizens.
Devimco Immobilier will do its part to participate in the quality of life of the greater Griffintown area by transferring plots to the City of Montreal to recreate the Park Square Gallery and to develop Smith Street. Therefore, the rental building will be located adjacent to these public spaces, creating a new sustainable and convivial neighbourhood where all age groups will find nearby security, all aligned with the vision of the new SPP.
