Diverted Korean Air passengers to be processed at the Comox Valley Airport this afternoon
COMOX, BC, April 11, 2012 /CNW/ - The Comox Valley Airport will process diverted Korean Air passengers, crew and their baggage at approximately 14:00 hrs today in the civilian terminal building. All regularly scheduled flights at the Comox Valley Airport will continue to operate as usual.
The Comox Valley Airport Commission and Comox Valley airport staff, including Canadian Air Transport Security Authority screeners, will assist in processing the passengers and their baggage at the request of Korean Air, 19 Wing Comox and the RCMP. The request came following the diversion of the Korean Air Boeing 777 aircraft to 19 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Comox at approximately 5:30pm on April 10, 2012.
The Comox Valley Airport Commission operates the civilian terminal building at YQQ. The airfield (runway) and its associated systems are operated by the Department of National Defence at 19 Wing Comox on a continuous 24-hour basis.
