Dixon Hall Basketball League Welcomes New Lead Sponsor, Freedom Mobile
TORONTO, Nov. 23, 2017 /CNW/ - The quest for the 2018 Dixon Hall Basketball League Championship has officially begun. Last night, the league's team captains gathered at the Regent Park Community Centre for the annual draft, where they had the opportunity to choose their teams and select the players they think will get them to the championship game.
Dixon Hall is excited to announce that Freedom Mobile is the new lead sponsor of the Dixon Hall Basketball League.
"Freedom Mobile supports youth programs in communities across Toronto, and we are very grateful that they have chosen to partner with Dixon Hall to support basketball in Regent Park", said Sandra Costain, Dixon Hall's Director of Children and Youth programs. "Freedom Mobile's support will help us reach more young people in Regent Park, and ensure youth in the neighbourhood have access to activities like basketball, to channel their energy in a positive way. We are thrilled to be working with Freedom Mobile, and to be able to expand and enhance our basketball league thanks to their generous support."
"The Dixon Hall Basketball League plays such an important role in the community," said Kenneth Slater, Manager, Children and Youth programs at Dixon Hall. "Every year, we look forward to seeing new players come into the league, and players from the development league who are ready to move up to the next level. The level of play in the league is impressive, and the competition is fierce. But the league is about so much more than basketball. We're seeing the next generation of community leaders emerge from this program, so it's about community building as well. We're thrilled to be able to continue to operate the league in the Regent Park community and to welcome Freedom Mobile as our new lead sponsor."
"The Dixon Hall Basketball League provides young people with a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a team, make friends, and develop strong leadership skills that can be applied both on and off the court," said Chethan Lakshman, Vice-President, External Affairs, Freedom Mobile. "The impact spreads far beyond the individual and into our communities, and we are proud to support the League, the coaches, and the players this year."
The Dixon Hall Basketball League has been operating in the Regent Park community for over 30 years. The league operates in partnership with the Regent Park Community Centre.
