Do trick-or-treaters have anything to fear? The Weather Network issues Halloween Forecast

OAKVILLE, ON, Oct. 29, 2014 /CNW/ - With much of Canada experiencing temperature swings in the days leading up to the spookiest night of the year, The Weather Network's meteorologists have released their Halloween forecast to help Canadians plan their costumes accordingly. Will Friday night's Fright Night activities be affected by ghostly gusts or are we in for a treat with a wickedly warm night?

"Fall is typically when weather tends to be the most changeable, and this variability can be challenging for trick-or-treaters when planning their Halloween costumes and activities," said Chris Scott, Chief Meteorologist at The Weather Network. "This year, we're seeing a distinct weather pattern across the country with a pronounced jet stream leading to a milder Halloween in western Canada and much colder temperatures in the east."

British Columbia
In British Columbia, residents should expect a more or less similar continuation of the past few weeks, with unsettled, but not necessarily stormy, weather expected to remain in the area. Temperatures are expected to be seasonal for the region and as the sun sets, parents should plan for a relatively cool, normal Halloween night.

Prairie Provinces
Southern Alberta is likely to experience milder temperatures compared to the rest of the region, as a result of warm winds from the south. Overall, an enjoyable Halloween night is expected with most of the Prairies experiencing dry weather, but be prepared for a brisk wind, especially in Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba.

Ontario and Quebec
Coming off some recent mild weather, Ontario and Quebec residents should expect a significant drop in temperatures on Friday. Multiple layers of clothing will be necessary, as Halloween will be one of the coldest nights so far this fall. Northern Ontario will experience the chilliest conditions, with temperatures below freezing during the evening hours. Southern Ontario and Quebec will also experience a cold wind from the north, making it a chilly and windy night for trick-or-treaters.

Atlantic Canada
Overall, seasonal temperatures are expected for most of the Maritimes and Newfoundland, with fairly dry and relatively calm conditions expected on Halloween. Residents should continue to keep an eye on weather conditions as the week progresses.
