Make sure you download the app before you head off on vacation!
MONTREAL, June 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Summer is finally here! Don't forget to pack your sunglasses, sunscreen and sandals. And this year, before you hit the road, think about downloading a Joint Report to your smartphone.
Groupement des assureurs automobiles (GAA) is pleased to inform Quebec drivers that the familiar Joint Report, which all - or almost all - drivers keep in their glove compartment, is now available in an e-version. The app can be downloaded from the App Store (IOS) or Google Play (Android).
Information no longer needs to be written out by hand. All that's required is for one of the drivers involved in a collision to have downloaded the app so that the Joint Report can be used. Each driver can then describe the accident, note the damage to his or her vehicle, take photos, check the completed Joint Report, sign on screen and email a copy of the Joint Report to himself and to his or her insurer, if desired.
The app allows users to enter their personal information ahead of time and automatically enter the data on their driver's licence using the bar code reader.
However, this new tool does not replace the paper version of the Joint Report, which remains in effect and can be used by drivers who prefer to do so. "The Joint Report app is simply an additional tool we offer drivers who've been in an accident. Rather than have to search around for a pen at a time when they're already quite stressed, they'll now have everything they need at their fingertips," noted Michel Ladéroute, Deputy Executive Director, at GAA.
The Joint Report app can be used after a collision without injuries involving one, two or three vehicles. Completing the Report using the app does not, however, replace policyholders' obligation to contact their insurer following a collision.
