Dogs and Giving Back Earn Softchoice Recognition as One of Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures
TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Softchoice, a leading North American technology solutions and services provider, is delighted to announce it has been named one of Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures of 2013. This national award, presented by executive search firm Waterstone Human Capital and featured in a special section of the National Post, recognizes Softchoice's focus on creating an exciting and collaborative workplace rooted in professional development and doing things differently.
"We believe that providing the right environment and the right opportunities allow exceptional people to make a meaningful difference to our clients and the communities where we work and play," said David MacDonald, Softchoice's president and CEO. "Our focus on unleashing the potential of our people infuses everything we do - from providing the development opportunities for employees to thrive professionally, to building a deep sense of team spirit through our employee-led corporate giving program, Softchoice Cares."
One of Softchoice's core values, "We get it done … differently," is deeply engrained in the corporate culture. This value is perhaps best exemplified by long standing traditions like the option to bring your dog to work and rewarding leadership and innovation with cultural icons like the coveted 'Tie Jacket' and 'White Fedora' awards. Investing in people and unique practices like these have contributed to Softchoice being recognized as a Most Admired Corporate Culture for 2013 and a Great Place to Work in Canada eight years in a row.
"The heart and soul of Softchoice jumped right off the pages of their submission," said Marty Parker, CEO of Waterstone and Chair of the Canada's 10 program. "Softchoice's focus on people and creating a truly fun and engaging workplace is absolutely what makes their success stand out in their field. We are proud to have Softchoice as a 2013 Canada's 10 winner."
Waterstone Human Capital's Most Admired Corporate Cultures program annually recognizes top Canadian organizations that maintain a strong corporate culture, and translate a focus on people and growth into enhanced performance and a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Waterstone chooses its Top 10 lists from hundreds of program submissions through its annual Canadian Corporate Culture Study and interviews with the nominees. Winners along with insights into their unique cultural practices are celebrated in a special section of the National Post newspaper due out in February 2014.
