Dollarama wins as company of choice for CFA Society Toronto's Research Challenge
Thirteen Ontario universities to compete for place in Regional Final in Toronto
TORONTO, Nov. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Canada's own unstoppable chain, Dollarama will serve as the subject company for CFA Society Toronto's Research Challenge as students from 13 Ontario universities face off in an equity research competition. Teams representing the next generation of financial professionals will prepare equity research reports on the Montreal-based retailer for scoring by financial industry experts."Dollarama's recent high performance, along with Target Corp.'s move into Canada, will make for some interesting analysis for the teams competing in CFA Society Toronto's Research Challenge. It is a pleasure to be working with Dollarama in this exciting initiative," said Peter S. Jarvis, CFA, Executive Director of CFA Society Toronto.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge offers students the unique opportunity to develop and present an equity research report and compete on a global basis. Students learn from leading industry experts and their peers from the world's top business schools. Competing universities assemble teams of three to five business and finance students who work directly with Dollarama in researching and preparing a company analysis. This year, more than 3,500 students and 650 universities in more than 55 countries will participate in local Challenge events, culminating in a global final in London in April 2013.
"We are thrilled to participate in this challenge and we look forward to working with these students as they take on an analysis of our company," stated Michael Ross, Chief Financial Officer, Dollarama. "Not only do these brilliant young men and women represent our next generation of analysts, but I have no doubt that this experience, as well as the CFA designation, will open many doors for them in future. We wish them the best of luck, and may the best team win!"
CFA Society Toronto's local winner will continue on to compete in the CFA Institute Research Challege Americas Regional Final, which will be held in Toronto in April 2013. The winner of the regional final will then progress to the global final, to be held in London in April next year.
