Industry veteran and Walmart Canada's Director of Environmental Health and Safety to receive 2018 RCC Retail Secure Lifetime Achievement Award
TORONTO, Sept. 6, 2018 /CNW/ - Retail Council of Canada (RCC) is pleased to announce that Don Berezowski, Walmart Canada's Director of Environmental Health and Safety, will be honoured with the 2018 RCC Retail Secure Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award will be presented during Retail Secure 2018, Retail Council of Canada's Loss Prevention Conference on September 20, 2018 in Toronto. Several hundred loss prevention professionals are expected to attend the special ceremony.
Previous recipients of this esteemed recognition include Manuel (Manny) Parreira, Bank of Canada's Regional Director (Ontario), Stephen O'Keefe, President, Grist Mill Solutions and Rita Estwick, Director, Enterprise Security Development at Canada Post.
Berezowksi is a veteran in the industry, having worked in the Loss Prevention and Health and Safety industry for more than 30 years beginning with Sears Canada where he held several positions in Operations, Returns, Productivity and Divisional Vice President for Loss Prevention & Health and Safety.
"Don is not only a pioneer, he is also a trusted advisor to so many within the loss prevention community," said Diane J. Brisebois, President & CEO, Retail Council of Canada. "His tireless work bridging the necessary gap between loss prevention and health and safety and his belief that the more information shared is for the greater good, epitomizes why he is so worthy of this recognition."
His advocacy efforts resulted in retail loss prevention earning a seat on the private-sector liaison committee for the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, providing a voice for the entire industry.
"Don Berezowski has spent the majority of his career advancing the professionalism of Canada's retail loss prevention community," said Rita Estwick, Retail Secure Advisory Council Member and recipient of the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award. "Regardless of what position he has held, he has dedicated his time volunteering on various committees, mentoring countless individuals, and sharing and developing best of breed strategies to reduce loss."
In his current role at Walmart Canada, Berezowski is responsible for the Health and Safety program for all stores and distribution centers ensuring a best-in-class safety program for the corporation.
