DoorDash Announces On-Demand Restaurant Delivery in Toronto
Company Launches First Non-US Market; Vancouver to Follow
TORONTO, Nov. 18, 2015 /CNW/ -- Technology and restaurant delivery startup DoorDash is beginning service today in Toronto, bringing on-demand delivery from more than 100 of the city's most popular restaurants.
From Insomnia Restaurant to Loaded Pierogi and from Signs Restaurant to Barque, restaurants across the Toronto area are now available for delivery with just the tap of an app. At launch, DoorDash will offer delivery across downtown Toronto, including Liberty Village, King/Queen West, Financial District, The Annex & Little Italy, with typical delivery times under 45 minutes. Over the coming months the company plans to expand its footprint to cover additional neighborhoods in the area.
Toronto marks DoorDash's 20th major metropolitan market and its first city outside of the United States. Over the past two years, DoorDash has partnered with tens of thousands of restaurants and other merchants to create one of the largest on-demand delivery marketplaces in the world. The company also uses its innovative logistics software that combines big-data technology with machine learning to make on-demand deliveries, faster, more efficient and more affordable. DoorDash plans to expand across Canada, and will be launching in Vancouver later this year.
Through the end of the year, delivery fees in Toronto through DoorDash will only be $1.00, with no minimum orders. Users can try out DoorDash on Android, iOS or on the web.
