TORONTO, May 24, 2017 /CNW/ - The Ontario Heritage Trust celebrated Doors Open Ontario 2017 on May 17 with a rare, behind-the-scenes look at some of Toronto's most fascinating Doors Open Ontario sites. This exclusive preview included stops at St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica, the Don Jail and backstage access to the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre. All three sites are part of Doors Open Toronto on May 27 and 28.
Representatives from 17 Doors Open Ontario events from across the province also attended to promote events happening throughout Ontario from May to October. This season, Doors Open Ontario commemorates the 150th anniversary of Confederation with themed activities, tours, exhibitions and demonstrations – all free of charge! Over 1,000 sites, from local breweries to natural landscapes, century-old cabins and modern marvels of engineering, have joined the program, offering visitors the chance to experience Ontario's unique history during this historic milestone.
