Double-digit growth continues at Hyundai Canada

TEN STRAIGHT RECORD MONTHS

MARKHAM, ON, Nov. 30 /CNW/ - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. continued its trend of double-digit year-over-year growth in November and looks set to wind down the year in the same strong fashion. With 7,022 units sold, November 2009 was the company's best November ever, beating a record set back in 1985 with the venerable Pony. November's strong results represent a 26.2 per cent increase over November, 2008.

With this accomplishment, Hyundai has recorded eleven straight months of double-digit sales increases and ten straight record-breaking months. The company surpassed its best year ever, recorded in 2008, with its September year-to-date results.

"We've been working very hard at proving to Canadians that Hyundai is the smart choice," said Steve Kelleher , president and CEO, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "Our efforts are paying off. With everything that's happened with the economy this year, consumers have become more strategic with their purchase decisions. I think they've really come to recognize that driving a safe, high-quality vehicle with great fuel economy doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Buying a Hyundai is a smart purchase; it's everything a customer needs at a price they can afford. That equation has done extremely well for us throughout the year."

Hyundai has the wind in its sails as it approaches the end of 2009. The Santa Fe secured another best month on record, its eleventh straight month of best-ever sales. The company is ranked globally as the fourth largest automaker, and is Canada's sixth largest manufacturer by volume as of end-of-October figures. The brand as a whole is on the rise as well. J. D. Powers and Associates' 2009 Initial Quality Study(SM) ranked Hyundai as the top non-premium car company, and the brand moved up three places in Business Week/Interbrand's 2009 Best Global Brands survey, surpassing several well-known competitors such as Porsche, Lexus and Nissan.
