Double Digit Increase Announced for 2011 Purses at Hastings Racetrack &
Casino

VANCOUVER, Dec. 23 /CNW/ - Hastings Entertainment announced today that the average overnight purse at Hastings Racecourse & Slots in 2011 will see a double digit increase with average daily distribution up too including stakes.

Howard Blank, VP of Great Canadian Gaming said "The recent appointment of Raj Mutti as Regional GM of Hastings and Fraser Downs Racing facilities, the Fraser Down's increased purse announcement on Monday and today's announcement regarding purses at Hastings Racecourse & Slots are positive changes for all concerned."

Hastings Racecourse & Slots General Manager Raj Mutti said the thoroughbred 71-day racing calendar in 2011 will begin April 16 and finish on October 2.  Stall applications are due on January 21, 2011 with the barn area opening January 28 and training beginning February 1.

Hastings Racetrack & Slots is also pleased to announce a 43-race stakes schedule in 2011 with purses totaling $2.575 million. Newly added 3 year old race series leading to the BC Derby will offer a "sweep bonus" if the 3 year old wins all three races."Top Allowance races will be for $32,500, including the B.C. bonuses
