Douglas Mental Health University Institute - Arrival of Lynne McVey as new Executive Director Français
MONTREAL, Jan. 17, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Ms. Claudette Allard, President of the Board of Directors, along with Board members and staff of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute are pleased to welcome Ms. Lynne McVey as the Institute's new Executive Director.
Lynne McVey worked for 25 years at the Jewish General Hospital, where she held the position of Director of Nursing and Clinical Operations. She also played a key role in the creation of the Segal Cancer Centre, for which she served as Co-Director. Ms. McVey is an Associate Professor at McGill University's School of Nursing in addition to being a principle lecturer for the Health Administration Program in the Faculty of Medicine at Université de Montréal.
Since 2009, Ms. McVey has been a Fellow in Health Management at the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. She has a Master of Science in Nursing from McGill University's School of Nursing. In 2010, the Ordre des infirmiers et infirmières du Québec honoured her with a Prix Florence in Leadership for her excellence in advancing the profession and practice and for her determination to continuously improve patient care.
Lynne McVey is recognized for her patient-centred approach and interdisciplinary leadership. She has an impressive track record in improving patient care, particularly through better organized services. Ms. McVey also believes in continually improving the patient experience, especially for those who must live with the stigma associated with mental illness, and ensuring they receive care with dignity. She places high importance on knowledge transfer so that all patients can benefit from evidenced-based care.
Her extensive knowledge about the stakes and challenges in health, research, and teaching along with her passion and perseverance make her the ideal candidate for the Institute, and she did an outstanding job in conveying these qualities to the five-member selection committee.
