Douglas Wayne Schneider extradited to Alberta
CALGARY, June 4, 2014 /CNW/ - The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has announced the extradition of Douglas Wayne Schneider from California to Alberta. On January 24, 2014, the ASC charged Schneider and Kenneth Charles Fowler in the Provincial Court of Alberta with fraud and other offences in relation to the sale of The Investment Exchange Mortgage Corporation securities. Arrest warrants were also issued for the two men.
On February 28, 2014, Schneider was arrested at the request of the ASC and Alberta Justice, and held in custody in California pending his extradition to Alberta.
On June 3, 2014, Schneider was extradited to Alberta. He appeared in Provincial Court this morning in Calgary where he was granted bail subject to conditions. Schneider is scheduled to enter a plea on June 17, 2014.
The ASC gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the following law enforcement agencies in the arrest and extradition of Schneider: Department of Justice (Canada), Alberta Justice, United States Department of Justice, United States Marshals Service, Medicine Hat Police Service, Calgary Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
