MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Digital dentistry is more than just wishful thinking as the field continues to make substantial advancements through technology. It's coming to a dental office near you – specifically to Dr. Stan Park's dental office.
"We have steadily been moving in this direction on various fronts because there are so many benefits, both to our practice and to our patients," said Dr. Stan Park, who has been practicing in the same location in Mississauga for 27 years. "But we have overcome all the hurdles to become totally digital."
In terms of Dr. Stan Park's actual practice, this means digital and computer-controlled technology, versus mechanical or electrical, is integral to how he performs his work. It extends to imaging (with an added benefit of eliminating chemical waste from film) to the diagnosis of cavities and the use of lasers.
Practice and patient management records also are computerized, making Dr. Park's office paperless. This, too, poses advantages that he believes ultimately benefit his patients.
"We follow very stringent guidelines in keeping patient confidentiality," he said. "Digital record management has various advantages in making our records secure, but also less vulnerable to natural disasters, like fires, thefts or vandalism.
"Plus, the records are more accessible and we are able to integrate pertinent information, such as accounts receivable; appointments, including confirmations and reminders; and insurance claim status," Dr. Park noted.
Dr. Park pointed out that patients themselves have gone digital, so they expect their healthcare providers – including dentists – to be following suit.
"It's interesting that these capabilities have also enhanced our ability to communicate and educate our patients," he said. "For example, with digital radiography, they now can see in living color on a flat inch screen specifically what is going on in their mouths, and in a way they've never seen before. It really helps them understand the treatment options I recommend and why I am recommending them."
Dr. Stan Park's dental office, located at 1077 North Service Road #27, performs a range of dental services, including orthodontics, dental implants and dentures. For more information, contact the practice at 905-949-5800.
