Connected, a speaker series presented by Dream, positions innovation at the forefront of community planning and design
CALGARY, Sept. 21, 2016 /CNW/ - Dream, one of Canada's largest real estate companies, is showcasing its growing presence in the Calgary market with its Connected speaker series at TELUS Spark on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016. Hosted by Love It or List It Vancouver's Todd Talbot, the event will feature presentations from futurist Jesse Hirsch; designer Amanda Hamilton; and urban planner Joseph Scanga, as they explore what it means to lead a connected life.
To showcase its forward-thinking values and innovative approach to community planning, Dream is excited to unveil the Connected speaker series. Partnering with planners, designers, architects and engineers, Dream understands who and what it takes to realize a community's full potential. The speaker series will provide Calgarians with the opportunity to explore how a city's communities can serve as a conduit to forming connections.
"At Dream we believe that connections shape our everyday lives, whether with people, nature, the community or the promise of the future," said Trevor Dickie, VP Calgary Land, Dream Calgary. "The Connected speaker series not only highlights Dream's presence in the Calgary market, but provides both industry professionals and the public with access to innovative thinking and discussion. Calgary's entrepreneurial spirit and vibrant lifestyle made it the perfect city for our first speaker series."
Dream is using Calgary as an innovation lab - asking questions, cultivating discussion and implementing new approaches to transform the way communities are developed and homes are built. Dream strives to change the social DNA of its communities by signaling a return to more engaging parks and green spaces, people-oriented streetscapes, and plentiful social, recreational and commercial amenities. A better quality of life and true sense of connection within its communities is Dream's barometer for success. In Calgary, Dream has developed several new communities in and around Calgary and has recently opened the doors to its newest community of Vista Crossing in Crossfield, Alberta.
Kicking off at 5:30 p.m., Dream invites the public to attend the Connected speaker series to engage with innovative thought leaders as they discuss points of connection, reasons for connection and the places and people that influence how we connect. Presented topics will include the rise of smart homes, taking an unconventional approach to design and what the future holds for urban design.
