Drilling program commenced at Jaripo Project, Mexico
BURLINGTON, ON, June 1 /CNW/ - Silver Shield Resources Corp. (TSXV - SSR) ("Silver Shield" or "the Company") today announced that the Company has, as part of its plan to become an regional operating entity centred in southern Mexico, commenced diamond drilling at the 100 % owned, 2950 hectare, Jaripo Concession, in the State of Michoacan, Mexico. No previous diamond drilling is known to have occurred on the property.
The program will consist of 1,500 metres in 15-20 holes to drill test an 1,800 metre portion of the vein structure that has been identified for over 4,000 metres on the property. This 1,800 metre interval is marked by a number of shafts and adits where past mining operations occurred. Remnants of a 30 tonne/day mill, that was installed about 30 years ago, are apparent on the property.
The company's intent is to perform an initial drilling program to verify the extended length and quality of the veining system, and identify areas where resources can be built quickly. This vein zone varies in width but is up to 2 meters wide, strikes northerly and dips ~75 degrees to the south. In places there are two or more veins indicated, and the possible presence of Carbonate Replacement Deposits, which could significantly increase tonnage, exists. The vein is in contact to the east with limy, calcareous sediment and immediately to the west by a 7-8 meter wide highly carbonated felsic dyke and carries lead-zinc mineralization enriched in silver. To the west of the dyke is a limestone. The contact zone of the dyke and the limestone has been brecciated for several meters in width. Surface sampling by Silver Shield has returned grades of up to 2.6 % lead, 12.5 % Zinc and 1,018 g/t (29 opt) silver.
The site is easily accessed by road, has hydro located 1 km from the site and good infrastructure is in place with a small town located only 8 km from the site, and nearby there is a currently operating milling facility that could process any future production for Jaripo and Management believes this property, and others currently under review, will further the Company's plans to become a regional developer and operator of silver mines in Mexico.
