Drinks Ontario applauds Ontario Special Liquor Advisor's Report as a good Beginning
TORONTO, May 31, 2019 /CNW/ - Drinks Ontario today commented that the Report for the Ontario Beverage Alcohol Review: "The Case for Change: Increasing Choice and Expanding Opportunity in Ontario's Alcohol Sector" provides good direction in ensuring the most choice for the Ontario consumer over the long term.
Andrew Von Teichman, President of Drinks Ontario, believes "these forward-thinking recommendations can eventually provide an opportunity for many of our members who are small and medium sized businesses. We are looking forward to continued dialogue with Minister Fedeli, his team and the Ford Government, along with being further involved in retail expansion that treats local and imported products equally."
As an association, we are encouraged by the opportunity to establish true wholesale pricing that would service new retailers and our vital hospitality industry. Like Mr. Hughes, Drinks Ontario firmly believes that the LCBO is a valuable asset and should play a critical role in Ontario's Beverage Alcohol industry.
Executive Director Jim Lisser emphasized, "Our members have worked with the LCBO in growing and modernizing the beverage alcohol industry over the years and are confident their expertise will be invaluable as distribution and choice evolves. Further, we recognize the importance of social responsibility when it comes to alcohol distribution and it should remain a primary focus as Ontario looks to new opportunities."
