Duncan Payne joins BILD as managing director - Home Shows

GREATER TORONTO, July 22, 2014 /CNW/ - The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) is pleased to announce that Duncan Payne will be joining the organization as managing director of its three GTA-based Home Shows.

"Duncan Payne is a business leader with extensive experience streamlining operations, raising profitability and building brands," said BILD president and CEO Bryan Tuckey.

"He was selected among numerous candidates to strategically lead our Home Show team and develop a long-term strategy that ensures the National Home Show, Fall Home Show and newly launched GTA Home Show are successful, profitable and sustainable over time."

The executive search was conducted by JL Cornerstone, a firm specializing in leadership and high impact positions in a number of diverse industries.

As managing director, Payne will develop and implement a business strategy for all of BILD's tradeshow events that is aligned with the association's strategic vision, serves the best interests of its members and compliments its overall growth plan.

His experience includes 13 years at DMG World Media in multiple roles, most recently as executive vice-president of business development. In this position, Payne was responsible for corporate business development, with a focus on the worldwide energy sector to achieve consistency with DMG's strategic growth plan.

Overseeing 66 employees and managing a $36 million revenue stream, he aligned launches, acquisitions, and disposals with the strategic plan, lead and developed DMG's Energy group consisting of 17 worldwide events and two publications, as well as improved sales and administration of the Canadian Energy business by reorganizing the operational structure.

BILD looks forward to welcoming Payne into his new role when he begins on September 2, 2014.
