Dundas and Hamilton, Ontario await NHL(R) pre-season game between the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres
TORONTO, Sept. 26 /CNW/ - Today, Ottawa Senators alumni Shawn McEachern and Buffalo Sabres alumni Dave Andreychuk posed with Lord Stanley's Cup and Dundas, Ontario residents Barry Forth, and his three children Oliver, Estelle and Declan to kick off Kraft Hockeyville 2010 in Dundas, Ontario - winner of this year's Kraft Hockeyville competition. For the next three days residents of Dundas and Hamilton will be entertained by activities and events including a Stanley Cup(R) Jamboree, NHL(R) alumni autograph signing sessions featuring Shawn McEachern, Brad Marsh and Dave Andreychuk as well as a Pre-Game Pep Rally. The highly anticipated 2010/2011 National Hockey League (NHL(R)) pre-season game between the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres played at J.L. Grightmire Market Street Arena in Dundas will conclude the festivities on September 28, 2010.
On top of the $100,000 Kraft Canada donated to Dundas for arena upgrades, Kraft Canada also presented The Salvation Army-Dundas with a donation of $5,000 to help feed those in need in the community. The NHL Foundation donated $15,000 to the "Gotta Be Dundas Legacy Project", an initiative to raise $600,000 to pay for additional upgrades to the J.L. Grightmire Arena.
This is the fifth year Kraft Canada, CBC, NHL(R), The National Hockey League Players' Association (R) (NHLPA) have declared a community Kraft Hockeyville in Canada. The Kraft Hockeyville competition gives all Canadians the opportunity to experience the excitement of an NHL(R) pre-season game first-hand from their local arena and receive $100,000 in arena upgrades courtesy of Kraft Canada. This year's four runner-ups including Bishop's Falls, NFLD; Stanstead, QC; Cranbrooke, BC and Lawrencetown, NS also received $25,000 each in arena upgrade money from Kraft Canada.
Past winners of the Kraft Hockeyville competition include Terrace, BC (2009); Roberval, QC (2008); North Bay, ON (2007); and Salmon River, NS (2006).
The one-hour special, Kraft Hockeyville: The Game, will air Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 9:30 p.m. E.T. on CBC and CBCSports.ca.
