e-ImageData Announces Award Of Second U.S. Patent On Digital Microform Imaging Apparatus And Lawsuit Against Konica Minolta For Patent Infringement
HARTFORD, Wis., Oct. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - e-ImageData announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued e-ImageData a second U.S. Patent relating to its digital microform imaging technology (U.S. Patent No. 8,537,279). The patent covers technology used in e-ImageData's ScanPro products -- microform scanners used in the world's most prestigious libraries and institutions.

"We are continuously innovating," says James Westoby, president of e-ImageData. Our ScanPro products use patented and patent pending technologies to link to secondary sources when a word is selected, copy highlighted microfilm areas as text to the clipboard for pasting to other programs, convert microfilm images into word-searchable PDFs and to automatically find and highlight text on the displayed microfilm image. "These features have forever changed the way people work with microfilm," says Westoby. "e-ImageData takes pride in our constant innovation and commitment to keeping our customers at the cutting edge of digital scanner technology," says Westoby. "We are committed to protecting our intellectual property so that we can continue to move forward in providing our customers with the most dynamic product on the market."
An important part of e-ImageData's effort to protect its patented technology will be to continue challenging those that e-ImageData believes are infringing its patents. Last year e-ImageData filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin against Konica Minolta, and two companies that sell digital microfilm scanners made by Konica Minolta, asserting infringement of U.S. Patent 8,269,890. e-ImageData believes that Konica Minolta's SL1000 scanner also infringes its newly issued '279 Patent. Therefore, today, e-ImageData filed a second patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin against Konica Minolta and will continue to vigorously protect its intellectual property rights.
In business since 1989, e-ImageData is the industry leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of micrographic equipment. The ScanPro microfilm scanners are the equipment of choice in the world's most prestigious libraries and institutions.
