VAL-D'OR, QC, Feb. 5, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - EACOM Timber Corporation today welcomes Uniboard's announcement that it will invest over $53 million in its Val-d'Or facility.
"We are very pleased that Uniboard is making such an important commitment to the Quebec wood products sector and to the community of Val-d'Or," said Kevin Edgson, President and CEO of EACOM. "In an effort to reduce waste and maximize the amount of wood used from every tree we harvest, EACOM has developed markets for its wood residues. Uniboard's investments will not only help solidify their position as a North American leader in the production of particleboard and thermofused laminated products, but it will also ensure that EACOM continues to have an outlet for its sawmill residues, particularly from our Val-d'Or mill."
Particleboard and thermofused laminated products, made from renewable, responsibly sourced wood fibre, are used in a variety of products including kitchen cabinets, office furniture and flooring.
"We would also like to commend the Quebec and Canadian governments, in particular Investissement Quebec and Economic Development Canada, for their vision and continued support to Quebec's forest products sector," added Edgson.
