Earth Rangers and Nature Conservancy of Canada announce $500,000 donation from HSBC Bank Canada to help children across the country Bring Back the Wild!

TORONTO, May 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Earth Rangers and the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) today announced a $500,000 donation from HSBC Bank Canada to help bring hands-on, experiential conservation education to school children across the country.  Earth Rangers and the NCC will each receive $250,000 over a five year period, starting in 2012.

HSBC Bank Canada's donation will:

• Help Earth Rangers' National Tour reach an additional 250 schools across Canada over the next five years.  Earth Rangers' School Outreach Program educates students about the threats facing biodiversity and empowers them to take action to help protect wild animals and their habitats.
• Help 10,000 children across Canada get started with a $5 donation to their Bring Back the Wild! fundraising campaign account.  Bring Back the Wild! is a collaboration between Earth Rangers and the NCC that educates children about the importance of biodiversity and empowers them to take direct action by raising funds to protect endangered animals and the wild spaces they need to survive.
• Support Nature Day events, which provide adventures in conservation at select NCC sites across the country for school children aged 10-12.  This youth-focused program will get children from schools in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver out working with the NCC's conservation biologists, learning first-hand how to care for some of the country's most vulnerable natural areas.
