ST-HYACINTHE, QC, Aug.13, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Mario Maillet, President and General Manager of Écolait Ltée, is proud to announce the conclusion of several supply contracts in the United States, which will result in the delivery, over the next few months, of thousands of hog carcasses to meet specific protocols relating to animal welfare, in particular. These annual contracts – recurrent for five years – represent almost $15 million of additional income per year for the organization. To make all of this possible, Écolait Ltée has just signed service agreements in Ontario to recruit hog farmers dedicated to the production of meat that meets high-quality criteria. In addition, a production contract has also been signed, in the Maritimes, with a major pork producer, to guarantee the supply.
Quality and Specificity for Écolait
Production protocols that are increasingly specific and constant concern for animal well-being have, recently, allowed Écolait Ltée to sign supply agreements on the North American market. Mario Maillet states that niche markets represent a real business opportunity for an organization like Écolait. "We knew it was time to integrate these innovative and custom directions into our strategic development plan, which allowed us to fully benefit from the specific-demand market ", he clarified.
Positive Economic Benefits
A number of production farms in Canada will benefit from these new Écolait Ltée production contracts. Under the terms of the agreement a bonus of $50 is paid for each hog produced in keeping with the specific protocols in order to meet the demand. Canada wide, this represents positive economic benefits of many millions of dollars. According to Mario Maillet, this kind of agreement will be more than desirable economically for Québec, if it is applicable.
