WATERLOO, ON, March 10, 2015 /CNW/ - "Economical should have the whole world as their clients," Mark Jaklic says when recounting his claims experience with his insurance provider.
Mr. Jaklic was one of thousands who were affected by a 126-mm rainfall that hit the Greater Toronto Area in a single day in the summer of 2013. His games room was waterlogged, his vast record collection threatened, and his pool table — the centre of his Friday nights with the boys — was out of commission. But, thanks to Economical's claims team, not for long.
Nikki Tilley, co-owner of Tilley Endurables, was also shocked to see water where it wasn't supposed to be. In her case, the cause was a burst water heater in the family's iconic hat and clothing store in Vancouver. "My cell phone rang and it was one of our team members. Her words to me were, 'there's a waterfall in the showroom." Economical had repair teams on scene in no time.
"I went home that night knowing our insurance was covering it, our deductible was a low amount, and that [the flood] wasn't going to put us out of business," recalls Nikki. She was thrilled that, in less than three weeks, they were able to reopen with all their costs covered.
You're invited to meet Nikki, Mark and many other individuals who share their claims stories in vivid detail and re-enactments in newly released videos on Economical's website.
"We're celebrating these outcomes because helping people when they need us most is what we're all about," says Economical's vice-president of claims Rocco Neglia. "Insurance is a different kind of 'product' because you pay for something you hope you'll never actually need to use. But, if and when that day does come, living up to our 'good to know' tagline is our only goal."
