Making donation in association with broker partner PV&V Insurance
WATERLOO, ON, Aug. 3, 2016 /CNW/ - YWCA Hamilton believes that when impoverished women have access to healthy food and the opportunity to participate in social enterprises, their quality of life improves as they gain important employment skills and income. At the YWCA, women in crisis find safe and supportive transitional housing and opportunities in social enterprises that help them gain the confidence and the means to secure safe and permanent affordable housing off the streets.
Today, Economical Insurance donated $10,000 to YWCA Hamilton, in association with local broker partner PV&V Insurance, to support the 'At the Table' program that provides healthy food and training opportunities for women. The program operates a social enterprise catering business that allows women to sustain themselves to some degree and creates a networking opportunity for women in transition.
"We really appreciate the generosity shown to us by Economical Insurance. We hope that through the leadership of PV&V and Economical, others will join YWCA Hamilton in support of 'At the Table' and our 'Kitchen & Café' renovation project." said Denise Christopherson, CEO of YWCA Hamilton.
"We are pleased to make this donation in association with PV&V Insurance to support the good work being done at YWCA Hamilton that helps women and girls in the Hamilton area who need it most," Robert Gow, Regional Vice-President of Sales and Distribution for Ontario at Economical Insurance.
PV&V Insurance has been a large supporter of YWCA Hamilton's 'Be the Recipe for Change' program that provides meals for the 65 women in the Transitional Living Program.
YWCA Hamilton has been improving the lives of women in the community since 1889. With values that include equity, self-determination, inclusion, community and accountability, the YWCA has successfully enhanced the safety of countless women and girls in the Hamilton area.
