EcoRun 2015 Announces Michelin as Green Jersey Sponsor AJAC 2015 Vancouver Island EcoRun
Bringing Fuel Efficient Technologies to Your Community
VANCOUVER, March 25, 2015 /CNW/ - The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) is happy to announce that the highly coveted Green Jersey award has gained Michelin as its sponsor. Starting in two days, the award will be known as the Michelin Green Jersey award.
Michelin Canada joined forces with the 2015 AJAC EcoRun to supply the Canadian journalist, who statistically displays the most eco-friendly driving throughout the two-day British Columbia event with a brand-new set of Michelin tires, to go along with the Green Jersey.
The 2015 AJAC EcoRun is a showcase of fuel-efficient vehicles and its technologies. This year, there are 20 new vehicles entered that will drive a route through British Columbia starting in Vancouver on March 25 onto Vancouver Island via Nanaimo, Duncan, Langford and Victoria. On March 26, the EcoRun heads back to Vancouver through Sidney and Steveston.
The AJAC EcoRun Green Jersey has always been a highly sought after award since its inception, following the inaugural showcase run. The first winner was The Globe & Mail's Michael Bettencourt, followed by last year's winner Toronto Star journalist and Motoring TV personality, Jim Kenzie. Jim hopes to be the first back-to-back award winner to retain his status as the most fuel-efficient EcoRun driver.
"To me, the true value of EcoRun is that it shows we can get better fuel economy in any car we drive," said Jim Kenzie, the 2014 Green Jersey award winner. "As the defending 'Green Jersey' wearer, I will be feather-footing it across Vancouver Island. Competitive? Who, me?..."
This year, 20 leading Canadian journalists will be vying for the award, as they drive vehicles that span from compacts, mid-size sedans, crossovers, SUVs and trucks. The powertrains vary as well including: pure electrics, plug-in and conventional hybrids, diesel-fuelled, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, as well as highly-efficient gasoline options.
