Edmonton Blogger Wins World's Most Lucrative Social Media Contract

The BiLLe Lotto names Sheri Landry its Canadian ambassador with an unprecedented award of €100,000.00 (CDN $123,100.00)

ST. JOHNS, Antigua, Aug. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - It's official: Canada's top blogger--and the world's highest-paid one--is Sheri Landry of Edmonton, AB. The BiLLe Lotto (www.TheBiLLe.com) today declared her winner of its Best Blogger Canada contest.

Landry defeated bloggers nationwide to win the Best Blogger Canada (www.BlogTheBiLLe.com) title and an ambassadorship worth €100,000.00 (CDN $123,100.00). "This means that I will get to realize my dream years ahead of when I thought I would. Working as a blogger and in social media for a wonderful company doing amazing things and being a part of the team who will shape their online presence is so exciting."

Future editions of the contest will be held in other eligible countries, determined by the number of interested local bloggers and jurisdictional regulations, says The BiLLe's social media strategist Felicia Dewar. "The contest in Canada has been a huge success and demonstrated what a phenomenal pool of talent we've got. The bloggers were fantastic, and the judges sometimes disagreed, but today spoke in unison."

Competitors were required to submit a video describing what they would do with one billion Euros, followed by a blog post and a video interview with the charity of their choice. Ms. Landry chose the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, and her first official duty was to present the same with a cheque for €10,000.00 (CDN $12,310.00).

"It's a wonderful surprise, and the money will be put to very good use," said Stephanie Perilli, Community Initiatives Manager at the Stollery. "It will help us continue to be one of the best pediatric services centres in the world."
