Education contest highlights BC student stories
VANCOUVER, Oct. 21, 2016 /CNW/ - The people who teach at BC's colleges and universities are running a fun education contest for people in BC, and the prizes are amazing. The grand prize is your rent paid for one year ($12,000) and a vacation in the sun this winter.
The contest is open to anyone in BC, but mostly students are entering the contest. The contest asks people to share their story about going to College and University in BC.
"Students are talking about some of the financial challenges they are facing with very large student debt loads," said George Davison, President of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC. "Each person has a unique story—some of amazing success and others of real struggle."
"Students are also sharing inspiring stories about how post-secondary education has transformed their lives. Students like Raven who entered our contest. He is a young man who spent time living on the streets, and who decided he want to go back to school and as result he is succeeding at school."
Every day post-secondary education is transforming lives in BC. For some it makes the difference of getting their first job or helps them to upgrade their skills. For others, education might allow them to expand their minds: to become the one who finds a cure for cancer or develops a revolutionary new technology.
The education contest closes November 1 at 11:59pm. Students can enter the contest at: www.openthedoors.ca/contest
