Edward Gong has retained Scott Hutchison of Henein Hutchison LLP and Paul Stern of Stern Landesman Clark LLP to represent him in his defence of recent allegations by the Ontario Securities Commission
TORONTO, Jan. 5, 2018 /CNW/ - Edward Gong has retained Scott Hutchison of Henein Hutchison LLP and Paul Stern of Stern Landesman Clark LLP to represent him in his defence of recent allegations by the Ontario Securities Commission. Glen Jennings of Gowling WLG also continues to represent Mr. Gong. With the assistance of his counsel and accountants, Mr. Gong will contest each of the claims made by China and repeated by the OSC.
Despite the claim of a detailed investigation, Mr. Gong was never asked for comment or any interview by any Canadian investigator or official, and believed throughout that he was in compliance with all applicable laws.
The Ontario Securities Commission is relying upon information obtained from China, but has not yet provided the details of the information they will rely upon for these allegations. These charges are only allegations originating with China state actors. These are allegations which have never been tested. Mr. Gong denies them and will resist them firmly.
He will vigorously defend these charges and looks forward to having an opportunity to present his case to a Canadian court.
Mr. Gong and his companies are committed to a high standard of service and ethics – all customers have been provided with products and services according to the highest standards.
Paul Stern of Stern Landesman Clark said, "These dated allegations are localized to China, and have nothing to do with Mr. Gong's ongoing business activities around the world".
Scott Hutchison said "Everyone should keep in mind that Mr. Gong, like every Canadian, is presumed innocent. He will answer these allegations in detail at the appropriate time, in the appropriate forum."
