OTTAWA, Sept. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is pleased to mark its third anniversary as the Official Nutritional Partner of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
The national run team, made up of egg farmers, farm families and staff, are taking part in community Runs across Canada. The aim is to outdo last year's fundraising total of $50,000 as part of their commitment to support causes that matter to Canadians.
For Tim Lambert, CEO of EFC, the cause could not be more important. Six years ago his wife, Barb, overcame breast cancer, a battle that brought the family and friends even closer together. "It's become very important to my family to take part by running with thousands of other survivors and their families and by supporting those who are currently battling cancer," says Lambert.
EFC is also the official presenting sponsor of the Get Cracking® Run Day Warm-Up at all 66 locations. Local farmers and staff will be on-site at select locations to answer questions from the expected 170,000 participants about the Run, agriculture and proper race-day nutrition.
"Egg farmers are committed to serve our local communities, and a big part of that is supporting causes that matter, like the CIBC Run for the Cure," says Peter Clarke, Chairman of EFC, who supports the Nova Scotia event in his area with his family. "Helping each other is an absolute core value of the Canadian egg industry."
Egg Farmers of Canada is proud to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's important work to raise awareness and funds to support essential research, education and health promotion programs.
