Egg Farmers of Canada kicks off the holiday season with festive recipes and tips
OTTAWA, Dec. 11, 2013 /CNW/ - With the holiday season upon us, egg farmers across Canada are proudly sharing their favourite recipes and tips to make holiday entertaining easier.
Demand is high at this time of year as eggs are used in the majority of desserts that are created for party diners, are used in many main course dishes and even in some traditional beverages, such as eggnog.
"Holidays are a special time of year, but can also be busy. This is why we are sharing delicious yet easy recipes to help make holiday hosting a breeze", said Bonnie Cohen, Egg Farmers of Canada's Manager of Marketing and Nutrition.
When holiday cooking sends demand for eggs soaring, Canadian consumers have the unique system of supply management to thank for their continuous supply of fresh, local, high-quality eggs.
"Eggs are so simple, yet so versatile for the many creative endeavours people pursue at this time of year. Plus, Canadian eggs are wholesome, local and high-quality, regardless of which grocery store you shop at," added Cohen.
Egg Farmers of Canada is sharing tips online to help bakers during this busy season. For example, room temperature eggs will blend better with fat and sugar, and room temperature egg whites will beat to a greater volume.
