Jim & Joannette Van Hemert, Ingersoll, become Ontario's newest egg farmers
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - Congratulations to Jim & Joannette Van Hemert of Ingersoll, Ontario who were chosen as the recipients of the 2012 New Entrant Quota Loan Pool (NEQLP) program. The announcement was made November 14 at Egg Farmers of Ontario's (EFO's) Annual Councillors' & Delegates' Workshop at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel in Mississauga, Ontario.
"Once again we had the difficult task of determining the most eligible applicant" said Laurent Souligny, Chair of the selection committee. "Although there are many factors to consider in the decision process, we are very confident in our choice."
The selection committee was comprised of Laurent Souligny, past EFO Director and former Chair of Egg Farmers of Canada; Daryl Ball, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs; Craig Bremner, TD Canada Trust; Robert Loree, Ward & Uptigrove; and Shannon Kelly, former President of Junior Farmers' Association of Ontario. The Van Hemert's were selected out of a pool of 12 applicants.
"This program is something we are very proud of, as it provides the opportunity for new growth within the egg industry." said EFO Chair Scott Graham. "The committee works hard to determine the best fit among all the applicants and we are very pleased with the results."
This is the second year of the NEQLP program, which will continue to be offered annually.
Egg Farmers of Ontario is an association that represents approximately 400 egg farm families. EFO works to ensure that consumers have access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced eggs with a fair return to the farmer.
