Elections Ontario Launches Voter Registration Campaign for March Provincial Voter Registration Month Français
TORONTO, March 1, 2018 /CNW/ - To mark Provincial Voter Registration Month, Elections Ontario is launching a voter-registration drive across Ontario.
To introduce this drive, Ontario's Chief Electoral Officer, Greg Essensa, will be visiting Queen's Park today, as all parties within the legislature unanimously consent to recognize March as Provincial Voter Registration Month.
Throughout March, Elections Ontario will be promoting e-Registration across Ontario to improve the accuracy of the Voters List. This new online tool has simplified the registration process for Ontario voters. Now, Ontarians can confirm, update or add their voter information online in a few easy steps.
Events across the province will include college and university campuses to reach young voters in the highly mobile 18-24 demographic. Elections Ontario will also hold local events in several electoral districts to ensure we reach as many eligible voters as possible. The Chief Electoral Officer will be promoting the campaign in the media across the province, informing voters on technology changes ahead of the election on June 7, 2018.
Most Ontario residents are already registered to vote, but with electoral districts increasing from 107 to 124, it is important for voters to confirm their information is correct. With up-to-date information from voters themselves, Elections Ontario can deliver the Voter Information Card (VIC), to the right person at the right address for the June election.
The VIC is mailed to every voter whose name and address appear on the Voters List. It includes important information about where to vote, when to vote and the many ways to vote. For the election in June, the VIC will be the key to an improved, modernized voting system and a better experience for voters.
