Electric Circuit Charging Station Rollout - McMasterville is working towards a greener environment Français
MONTREAL, Jan. 13, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the commissioning of a first public charging station for electric vehicles (EVs) in the municipality of McMasterville. It is located in the new parking lot next to the covered skating rink at Ensoleillé park.
In keeping with its environmental initiatives, the municipality of McMasterville is one of the first municipalities in the MRC de la Vallée-du-Richelieu to own a public charging station and make it available on its territory.
"We hope consumers will appreciate this new service, and that it will encourage them to purchase electric vehicles," said Mayor Gilles Plante. "If the demand justifies it, the municipality will install three more charging stations, as the stage is already set."
"Electric vehicle users can now stop in McMasterville to fill up on clean energy," said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President - Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit. "Thanks to its involvement, the municipality is increasing the service offering for the growing number of electric vehicles owners in the Montérégie."
Electric vehicle drivers who would like to use the city's charging station can purchase an access card prior to using it. For more information, visit the Electric Circuit Web site.
The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec, with close to 250 Level 2 (240-V) charging stations and one fast-charge (400-V) station in operation in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 53 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. The network will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in many regions of Québec.
Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, www.theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
