Electric Self-Driving Shuttle Back in Candiac for Summer 2019
MONTREAL, May 14, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Keolis Canada and the City of Candiac are pleased to announce that the 100% electric autonomous shuttle will be back on public streets in Candiac starting May 15, 2019. With a 15-passenger capacity, the shuttle will follow the same 2-km circuit announced when it first entered service in October 2018, travelling between the exo park-and-ride and the intersection of Boulevard Marie-Victorin and Boulevard Montcalm Nord, near Parc André-J.-Côté. It will make several stops along the route, including at the city hall and in front of a retirement complex and local businesses.
"We're really excited about restarting this first long-term autonomous shuttle pilot project in Candiac after the winter break," says Marie Hélène Cloutier, vice president of passenger experience, marketing and sales at Keolis Canada. "While it seamlessly merges into regular traffic, it provides a true shared mobility experience. We invite all curious and interested public transit riders to use it again or try it for the first time."
Enjoy summer to the full with free shuttle service
According to a Léger survey to measure happiness levels published in February 2019, Candiac is the 3rd happiest city in Quebec. "This ranking reflects our hard work to make Candiac a model of exceptional quality of life through innovative projects. Offering our residents access to the first autonomous electric shuttle on public streets in Canada is one of the top-quality, innovative services we want to make available," says Normand Dyotte, mayor of Candiac.
Residents and visitors alike are invited to use the shuttle to facilitate their trips to the many summer activities taking place in Parc André-J.-Côté, as well as the new local organic market that will be hosted at city hall every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m.
