EllisDon Donates Time to Help Build Cancer Facility

Contractor teams up with subtrades to help bring Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre addition to reality

MISSISSAUGA, Jan. 13 /CNW/ - On November 30, 2009 , EllisDon was awarded the contract for the Wellspring Centre Addition at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto , Ontario. The project has a value of $2.7 million , however, given that Wellspring does not receive any government funding and relies entirely on community support, EllisDon provided a little extra in order to help get the addition built.

Working in partnership with subtrades and suppliers, the company is donating approximately $1.7 million in labour, materials and services in order to assist Wellspring to continue offering their services to the growing number of people affected by cancer.

The addition, which is approximately 8,700 square feet, contains three finished levels including a basement, ground and second floors which will be accessed by a hydraulic elevator and two oak stairwells. The addition will increase Wellsprings' programming and administration space from 2,400 square feet to 11,100 square feet.
