Emera Appoints Scott Balfour as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

HALIFAX, Feb. 28, 2012 /CNW/ - (TSX: EMA): Chris Huskilson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Emera Inc., announced today that Scott Balfour has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Emera, effective April 16, 2012.

Mr. Balfour is currently President of Ensimian Capital Corporation, a private company providing consulting services and private investment.  Mr. Balfour previously held the position of President and CFO of Aecon Group Inc., a publicly traded construction and infrastructure development company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.

"Scott is a proven leader with twenty-three years of business experience and an impressive track record of building a highly successful publicly traded construction and infrastructure development company," said Chris Huskilson. "With seventeen years of experience as CFO of Aecon we are confident Scott will be a strong fit for our leadership team."

Judy Steele, who has held the role of interim CFO since May 16, 2011, will work closely with Scott to ensure a smooth transition.
