Empire Theatres Announces Acquisition of Two Ontario AMC Theatres

HALIFAX, June 21, 2012 /CNW/ - Empire Theatres, a Canada-wide movie exhibition company operating 51 theatres, announced today that it will purchase two of AMC Entertainment's theatres in Ontario: AMC Kanata 24 in Kanata, Ontario and AMC Whitby 24 in Whitby, Ontario.

Each complex offers 24 screens including an IMAX Experience^® auditorium. Empire Theatres will equip all auditoriums with digital technology to provide moviegoers with a state-of-the-art movie presentation experience, and enhanced 3D presentation through RealD 3D technology in an increased number of auditoriums.

Empire Theatres owns and operates thirteen theatres in Ontario, including three in the Greater Toronto Area, and three in the Ottawa Region. In addition, Empire Theatres has announced the construction of a new location in the iconic landmark, Lansdowne Park in Ottawa opening in 2013.
