Employees at Dawson Creek Lake View Credit Union ratify contract
VANCOUVER, April 8 /CNW/ - Members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU) who work for the Lake View Credit Union in Dawson Creek have ratified a new four-year contract.
The staff voted 95 percent to accept the new agreement. Both the union and the employer had help from mediator Mark Atkinson to reach an agreement.
"This is a good agreement which gets our members some improvements to their collective agreement," said BCGEU president Darryl Walker. "We recognize the importance of the credit union to the community and we're pleased to reach this agreement."
Highlights of the agreement include a wage increase averaging just under three percent over the life of the agreement. There is also an increase in annual vacation and an increase in interest on the employees' RRSP deposits.
Around 30 staff at the credit union work as clerks, tellers, loan officers and member service officers.
The new contract expires on June 30, 2013.
