EDMONTON, July 15, 2014 /CNW/ - Wednesday, July 16, will mark the first Emergency Medical Services Appreciation (EMS) Day co-sponsored by Advanced Paramedic Ltd. and Tim Hortons. All EMS personnel are welcomed to the Tim Hortons location at 8427-112 Street, Edmonton, across from the University of Alberta Hospital, where they will receive thanks and appreciation for the vital service they provide in our communities. APL and Tim Hortons are encouraging all EMS personnel to come by 8427-112 Street on Wednesday, July 16, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and receive some well-deserved appreciation.
EMS personnel are among a critical team of first responders to medical incidents, serve our industrial communities by being present on worksite locations, and accompany patients during air ambulance transfers, as well as performing medical stand-by at community events and on film and TV film locations. These roles are vital to the health of any community and APL appreciates the dedication, professionalism and high level of expertise in the pre-hospital care industry.
"I have been a Paramedic myself for over 20 years and have been honored to be a part of this exciting and growing industry. When I started Advanced Paramedic Ltd. 15 years ago, I couldn't have foreseen the demands, particularly in industrial work, nor predicted the ever-increasing demand for air ambulance. The growth of our industry has paralleled the growth of our Province, and APL is proud to be able to assist our neighbor provinces as well, "says APL's CEO Stephen Woodburn. Stephen adds, "However our industry faces the same challenges as others in Alberta, staff shortages are common in EMS. APL believes in being an employer of choice for EMS personnel, and we believe that showing our appreciation for our colleagues is an excellent step towards recognizing the demands of the job, the high level of commitment and compassion involved with each patient interaction and hopefully encouraging others to join our profession."
"I am pleased that Tim Hortons Canada supports this initiative and I look forward to building upon our inaugural event for years to come," says Stephen.
