For the second year in a row, Corby named one of the "Best Workplaces in Canada"
TORONTO, April 10, 2013 /CNW/ - Corby Distilleries is being recognized as one of this year's Best Workplaces in Canada. This list, and related stories, appears in a special national report published in today's edition of the Globe and Mail.
Corby is committed to building a company of leaders, and to providing a work environment where employees are challenged, encouraged and given the support they need to do their best and to become their best. We know that organizations that can create sustainable engagement are the most successful financially, and in a highly competitive industry, our employees give us an edge that's hard to match.
Over the course of 2012, we strengthened our focus on improving employee engagement. Our efforts were rewarded with a substantial improvement in all five trust-building dimensions measured by the survey - credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie - with the highest score going to "pride". There was also a 10% increase in the number of employees who agreed that Corby is a Great Place to Work®.
"Naturally, we're delighted to be identified as one of the best workplaces in Canada, especially for two years running," says Patrick O'Driscoll, President and Chief Executive Officer of Corby Distilleries. "It is a tremendous achievement for our company that is also going to motivate us to do more. We're an organization that thrives on challenge, and once we've made a list our next goal is to make it to the top."
This list of "Best Workplaces in Canada" is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 58-statement survey completed by employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization's culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a Great Place to Work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
This year's list received over 300 nominations, and over 57,000 employees participated in the 2013 "Best Workplaces in Canada" survey.
