Enercare Reaches Collective Bargaining Agreement With Unifor Local 975
TORONTO, March 27, 2018 /CNW/ - Enercare Inc. ("Enercare") (TSX: ECI), announced today that members of Unifor Local 975 voted to accept a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with Enercare. Ratification votes took place this week, and unionized employees have voted in favour of the new three-year agreement effective April 1, 2017.
"The ratification of the collective bargaining agreement is excellent news for our employees, our business and most importantly, our customers," said John Macdonald, President and Chief Executive Officer of Enercare. "The agreement is the result of a cooperative effort by both parties to achieve a contract that enables us to move forward together in building and growing the business for long-term success."
In order to better meet increasing customer demand for service during evenings and weekends, the new agreement provides increased scheduling flexibility. This flexibility will lead to greater customer satisfaction and enhanced service levels for Enercare's customers.
"Negotiating a Collective Agreement is never a simple process, however, both bargaining committees were absolutely committed to reaching an agreement and finding creative solutions that support our customers' needs while ensuring our continued shared success," said Macdonald.
As part of the agreement, Enercare's unionized workforce will recognize a general wage increase as follows:
- Year 1 – 2.0%
- Year 2 – 2.05%
- Year 3 – 2.0% minimum to a maximum of 2.5% of Ontario (All-items) CPI
