Enercare to distribute winter coats to local charities
TORONTO, Nov. 2, 2015 /CNW/ - Enercare Home Services announced today that it will distribute 100 repurposed winter coats to local charities this week. The coats were collected from Enercare employees during the rebranding transition Enercare underwent this year.
Following the October 2014 acquisition of Direct Energy's home and small commercial services business in Ontario, new coats were distributed to all customer-facing employees. All the nearly-new winter coats were collected, inspected and cleaned with the intent of distributing them to local charities just in time for the upcoming winter weather.
"Enercare prides itself on keeping people warm during the cooler months, so we are excited to use this opportunity to help provide warmth and comfort to local community organizations," said John Macdonald, President and CEO of Enercare. "As a company that is dedicated to environmentally responsible practices, we wanted to ensure these coats were salvaged and repurposed for members of the communities we serve."
All branded coats were collected from employees and then sorted by Enercare based on suitability. 100 coats were determined to be in good condition and were selected to be repurposed. The coats were dry cleaned and the old corporate logo was replaced with the Canadian flag.
Enercare has arranged for the coats to be distributed to local charities that were chosen by employees who live and work in these respective areas. The charities that will receive the coats are Family and Child Services in St. Catharines, Blue Door Shelters in East Gwillimbury and Newmarket, and The Lighthouse Community Centre, a program of the Canadian Mental Health Association in Haliburton, Kawartha, and Pine Ridge. The coats will be delivered to the charities this week.
