Energy professionals welcome new leadership at OPG, Hydro One
TORONTO, March 7, 2014 /CNW/ - "The Society of Energy Professionals is pleased to welcome Bernard Lord as chair of Ontario Power Generation, and Sandra Pupatello as chair of Hydro One," said Society of Energy Professionals president Scott Travers. "The Society looks forward to working with Mr. Lord and Ms. Pupatello, each of whom has a distinguished record in public service and the private sector."
"I have total confidence that these new appointees will work closely with our union and their professional employees to improve the province's publicly owned utilities in the interests of all Ontarians," continued Travers. "Both OPG and Hydro One serve a vitally important public mandate and I look forward to the opportunity to meet with Mr. Lord and Ms. Pupatello to discuss co-operative and productive approaches to meeting the challenges of today and tomorrow."
The Society also thanks the departing chairs of OPG and Hydro One, Jake Epp and James Arnett respectively, for their many years of dedicated service.
The Society represents 3,362 employees at OPG and 1,479 at Hydro One, including engineers, supervisors and administrative professionals.
The Society of Energy Professionals represents 8,300 knowledge workers and supervisors employed by 13 employers that are responsible for the generation, transmission and regulation of energy in Ontario in both the broader public and private sectors.
