Enhanced Video Access and Redundancy Key Features of Expanded VideoSphere
Solution
Using a new, patent-pending Shadow Archiving feature in the VideoSphere Video Management System (VMS), customers can now remotely access video recorded on MegaPX IP cameras with powerful SiteManager desktop application software. This innovation not only simplifies access to video stored at the network edge, but also enhances system redundancy by protecting against periodic network loss. In the case of a network outage, for example, video recorded on the integrated SD cards is automatically identified by the VMS for convenient downloading. Shadow Archiving eliminates the need to extract video from the cameras manually or to switch to a different software application to retrieve the data.
Another feature new to the VideoSphere solution enables recording to Network Attached Storage (NAS) directly from March Networks MegaPX IP cameras. Taking advantage of the cameras' multi-encoding capability, video can be recorded on multiple servers in different locations or can be routed simultaneously to the same storage platform both directly and via VMS. This feature increases system redundancy significantly and offers organizations the flexibility to configure and scale their IP video systems to best address requirements.
Expanded search capabilities are also available in the latest VMS, based on alarms triggered by switch contacts, motion detection, and a wide range of events detected through the VideoSphere family of intelligent analytics. In addition, the software can integrate specific text data from systems such as ATMs or point-of-sale terminals to alert organizations to potential issues and tag the associated video to speed incident investigation.
In line with the company's commitment to broadening its partner ecosystem, a new integration with Genetec's Omnicast(TM) video management software now enables customers to deploy VideoSphere CamPX IP cameras and Edge encoders into existing surveillance systems and benefit from high-performance features such as H.264 compression and optional, embedded analytics. The company also continues to expand its VMS integrations with leading third-party cameras and storage platforms, including a recently announced integration with the VideoAppliance(TM) offering from Intransa.
"We continue to evolve our VideoSphere portfolio to provide customers with flexible and resilient IP video solutions that integrate with standard IT infrastructure," said Fabrizio Colciago, Chief Technology Officer, March Networks. "We look forward to demonstrating the benefits of these latest features and the complete VideoSphere offering to enterprise organizations in a variety of industries worldwide."
March Networks will showcase VideoSphere, including its open-platform VMS software and expanded family of high-definition MegaPX IP cameras, in Booth 2865 at the ASIS International 55th Annual Seminar and Exhibits, September 21-24, at the
