ENMAX Energy sells British Columbia assets
CALGARY, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - ENMAX Energy Corporation ("ENMAX Energy") has announced the sale of its British Columbia assets to subsidiaries of Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P., a Calgary-based limited partnership that owns and operates energy infrastructure assets across North America, and to Pristine Power Inc, developers, owners and operators of independent power with substantial business development pipelines in British Columbia and Ontario.
"Our customer base in Alberta has grown substantially over recent years and many exciting projects are on the horizon for us right here in our own backyard," said Gary Holden, President and CEO of ENMAX Corporation. "The sale of our B.C. assets will allow us to focus our efforts on building generation facilities, implementing a home-based generation offer to consumers, and other smart grid initiatives in this province."
The sale of ENMAX Energy's British Columbia assets* to Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P. consists of:
- Its 99 per cent interest in Furry Creek, an 11 MW run-of-river hydro plant
- Clowhom, which consists of two 11 MW hydro plants
- Interests in other run-of-river hydro projects, including its 50 per cent interest in Culliton Creek, a 15 MW project
The sale of ENMAX Energy's British Columbia assets to Pristine Power Inc. consists of:
- Fifty per cent interest in two operating Energy Recovery Generation (ERG) units
The British Columbia energy marketplace will continue to be of interest to ENMAX Energy through its participation in the Naikun Offshore Wind Energy Project.
