ENPAR to conduct tours of full-scale ammonia treatment system during the
Timmins Mining Expo, May 19-20, 2010
GUELPH, ON, May 13 /CNW/ - Dr. Gene Shelp, President and CEO of ENPAR Technologies Inc. (TSX: ENP) ("ENPAR" or the "Company"), is very pleased to announce that the Company will be conducting tours of its state-of-the-art, patented, full-scale AmmEL-LC System for the treatment of ammonia in mine water during the Timmins Mining Expo. The Mining Expo will be held at the McIntyre Civic Centre in Timmins Ontario on May 19 and 20, 2010.
ENPAR plans to conduct two tours on May 19, 2010. Interested parties will be conveyed from the McIntyre Civic Centre to Lake Shore Gold's Timmins Mine for a one hour tour of the water treatment facility.
Dr. Shelp commented, "The Company is extremely excited about the opportunity to showcase our leading edge water treatment system to the mining community. We are grateful to Lake Shore Gold for their support, especially during this period of high development activity at the Timmins Mine site."
Environmentally hazardous ammonium-nitrate is a common form of blasting powder employed at most mining operations around the world. During cold weather months, many countries experience temperatures below 10 degrees C and the effectiveness of conventional biological systems for the treatment of ammonia is limited. The patented ENPAR AmmEL-LC System has proved to be highly effective at converting ammonia to environmentally friendly nitrogen gas at low temperatures. Unlike conventional approaches, the ENPAR system does not produce harmful by-products such as nitrate nor does it emit the greenhouse gas, nitrous oxide (N(2)O). AmmEL-LC offers the advantage of year-round treatment and discharge of wastewater and satisfies federal government environmental guidelines and mandates.
"Ammonia in waste water is a problem common to the mining industry, municipal wastewater treatment facilities, the food industry and specific chemical industries worldwide," added Dr. Shelp. "We believe that the success of the AmmEL-LC System at the Timmins Mine will generate interest and acceptance among end users. ENPAR is developing an international marketing program to commercialize target-specific, full-scale AmmEL-LC Systems within similar water treatment sectors."
