OTTAWA, Dec. 7, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Association of Journalists is pleased to announce entries are now being accepted for the 2017 CAJ Awards program, featuring Canada's top investigative journalism award, the Don McGillivray Award.

New for the 2017 program: We have two new awards – the JHR / CAJ Emerging Indigenous Journalist Award and the APTN / CAJ Reconciliation Award. We have also eliminated the entry fee for CAJ members applying as individuals into the community media and community broadcast categories.
Members always get the best rates and those considering an entry are encouraged to become a CAJ member as part of entering the awards.
"This has been yet another year where Canadian journalists have continued to produce exemplary work as their industry continues to suffer," said CAJ president Nick Taylor-Vaisey. "The CAJ Awards program provides an opportunity to recognize and reward the finest storytelling published by Canadian journalists—work that remains a vital part of a functioning civil democratic society.
"Recognizing our colleagues' best work of the past calendar year remains one of the most rewarding programs offered by our association."
The CAJ Awards finalists will be announced by the mid- to end of March 2018, with the winners announced at the 2018 CAJ conference, scheduled for May 4-5, 2018 in Toronto.
The CAJ is Canada's largest national professional organization for journalists from all media, representing members across the country. The CAJ's primary roles are to provide public-interest advocacy and high-quality professional development for its members.
